A Divorced Men's Club

A curious club waa organised in San Francisco some time since, and has grown until there are now 180 members. Mr Ward Battle, the secretary, said to an interviewer, " Y"es, we have a divorced men's club. Our members include some of the bestknown men in the city. Our club was formed for purposes of sociability and to impress mankind witb the dangers of matrimony, and to give others the advantage of our sad experience. But although outsiders listen to us and offer us sympathy in our woes, not so large a number of persons appear to be really convinced as we should like. Still, the club is doing much good work, and has already saved sever.il men who intended to marry from doing anything so foolish. Indeed, we are doing a good deal of msssionary work. Our president's wife divorced him because he smoked. Another member of our club, who ia a baron, was continually taunted by his wife tbat he married her for her money, and that she had even paid the honeymoon expenses.
