"•- The following is the annual report to be presented to the members of the Milton Cricket Club at the annual meeting to be held on Thursday night at 7.80 in the Council Chambers';: " At the beginning of the year it was thought after two unsuccessful attempts to hold the annual meeting, that the Club was about to succumb to the "microbe of indifference," but the energy infused into the Club by members has given it a new lease of life. In numerous ways has your committee reason to look back with satisfaction and pride on the season's operations. In the first place your representatives were successful in winning the Association's handsome Challenge Shield. Among teams competing in the northern end of the district Waitahuna, Lovelis Flat and Milton were equal in points, and played off, when Milton was victorious. The final thus lay between Waiwera (winners in the Southern District) and your representatives. This match was played at Balclutha, and after an exciting game your representatives were returned winners. Then, again, T. Johnstone, who has bowled ao consistently and well for your Club for a nnmber of years, won the Association's bat for the best bowling average, securing his wickets at a cost of 24 runs per wicket. It is confidently hoped that with the addition of a few of the old cricketers to the ranks of the Club, Milton will long- retain the shield.! On Easter Monday the annual fixtureNorth v. South was played, and your Olv^ W^9 |ayored by the inclusion of a* number of players who worthily upheld the honor of the Club. The thanks of the Club are <*hie to Mr> Johnstone (of the Bruce Dairy Factory 1 )' for his gift of a hat to the Club. My Johnstone has promised another bgt, . during' the prewnt season, i-Jtf^

It is matter for regret that for the future your Club is likely to lose the services of Mr Tom M'Grill, who has ; done a very great deal for Milton cricket.
