THE Greenwood Family

The ttiljated Greenwood family appeared in bt. George's Hull on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. On the former night the com pauy opened with the famous balcony acene from Romeo md Juliet, Miss Maribel depicting the Florentine love-sick maideni and ,vlisa Roberca the part of Romeo. The parts were pluyed with considerable histrionic power, aud uc the conclusion of the scene both iadiea were greeted with rounds of hearty approval. In tbe vocal portion of the entertainment, the gem of the evening was ur-doubtediy the trio, sung by Misset. Maribel, Agatha, and Roberta Greenwood, entitled " The Gipsies' LangbiDg Chorus,' and was much appreciated by the audieuoe, and in response to an undeniable encore tbe sis' era three then sang the lastverse again. This part oi th 3 eatertVmment was followed by J. K. Jerome's one-ant play entitled " Barbara." Miss Maribel tovk the part of Barbara and infused into the character a good deal of vim and pathos. Miss Agatha ac Lilie made the most of that pleasing, yet tantalising maiden ; Mr Bob Greenwood ac the bashful Cecil, portrayed that somewhat difficult chamctor with ease, Mr Finioum by Koine hocus focuß, peculiar to Btage-!and, was translated into a Mrs Finicam, (Mrs Greenwood), who filled her part quite as well, and better than if it bad been played by Mr Finicum. A very ei joyable entertainment concluded with a side splitting farce, entitled " Hurrah for Caßey." On Wednesday the company produced that sweetly - designated three • act play "My Sweetheart" in a very acceptable manner, the staging being quite au fait. Aa to the performance itself, it was a most creditabla one, and although the part by Mi-G Agatha was the hardest of the cast, ehe acquitted herself admirably and fairly established herself a favorite witb the audience. Miss Maribel and Miss Roberta, too, though not having such agreeable 1 characters, were not behind their a ater in point of excellence. We muat not forget to mention Mr Bob, however, for in his part of the irrepressible dude he surpassed himself ; with Mrß Greenwood, he supplied the funny element of the piece. A duet (Misa Agatha and Roberta) was a feature of the eveuiug, and iv response to clamooas demands, they again favored the aud'euce. A crowd of ohildren playiog at Bee-saw, with Mies Agatha standing on he board, and the membera of the company singing in the chorus, produced an tffootive scene, and was much appreciated. Oa both evenings the attendance was only fair (owing to a variety of reasons), acd not in proportion to the ability of the family as entertainers, should the Company see fit to come hero again, it is to be hoped that the publio will give tbem the bumper houses thsy deserve.
