One glaring instance is the construction of a small bridge, across the road leading past Mr J*s. Howie'*. This crossing has been used for years, and is • good sound crossing, and not used by more than fonr settlers Yet, because, a relative •f one of the rulers in the Council, has asked for a bridge, notwithstanding the same party got pipes in the same crossing last Sear, the work is being push .d on, without eing authorised by the council, or even consulting the member for Tokomairiro riding, who aught to be consulted ahould the bridge be required before the vex* meeting of the Council Of the few that use this crossing on« alone is anxious f ->r tbe bridge, tne rest ohj :ot altogo her to any money being • spent on tuat part of the road, aa there are other roads in olose proximity, more used, aod more io need of a little of the rates being spent on them. This just ahows how one or two councillors and -ne official, who rjwn the whole show, favour their friends Now I think it was high time thia eort of favouritism was exposed and put a stop to. If this bridge la really required why did tbe party, who is so anxious co have the bridge p_ ; on, not bring the matter before the oouncil in proper form?
