In Clutha River and Road Board

■ ■ •» -» At the general election of six members, held in the Drill Shed, Inch Clutha, on Friday the 3rd inst., the following was the result of the poll ; — George M'Donald 77, George Anderson 73, James Rutherford 67, George Harvey 63, John Smith 54, John Mosley 50, James Wright 48, William Wilson 25. The firßt aix named were declared elected. The annual meeting of the above Board was held in Luks' Hotel, Stirling, at noon on Saturday the 4th inst. There were pres nt Mesera Rutherford, M'Donald, tiarvey, Smith, Anderson and Mosley. It was moved by Mr Rutherford that Mr M'Donald take the chair. Seconded by Mr Harvey, and carried. It was moved by Mr Anderson that Mr Rutherford be chairmaß for the ensuing year. Seconded by Mr Mosley and carried. Mr Rutherford thanked the members for the honor of again appointing him chairman and expressed a hop<* that they would all oarry out the duties cf the iJoard as heretofore. It was movtd by Mr Rutherford that Jae. M'Kin'ay be appointed clerk, collector, and treasurer. Seconded by Mr Harvey, and oarried. It was moved by Mr Smith tbat the B >ard's account be kept at the Colonial Bank of New Zealand, Balc'utha, and that Mr M'Donald sign cheques with the chair' man and treasurer. Seconded by Mr Anderson and carried. It was resolved that the meetings of the Board be held in Luks' Hotel, Stirling, monthly during winter months, en first Thursday of the month at half-past Beven o'clock. The balance sheet for the year ending 31st March 1595, was hid on the tablr, which showed that the Board's income for the year wa? £365 ISj, and expenditure £476 J6i 6d, leaving a debit balance of £110 18s 6d. It was resolved that the adoption of same be held over till audited. The ordinary monthly meeting was held immediately after the annual meeting, all the members beiDg present, Mr Rutherford in the chair. Mr Smith asked permission to erect a fence on top of fliod bank fronting hia property to protect young trees and willows, — Permission granted. The clerk was instructed to write Mr William Gregg, Chicory Farm, and request him to remove hedge cuttings (whins) off road line at once, as it is an obstruction to the traffic. It was moved by Mr Smith that the Inspector pay contract No. 1, when completed. Seconded by Mr Anderson and carried. Thia was all the business and the meeting closed,
