The columns of this journal aro essentially public property, unci arc open to the Crec expressions of opinion by people of nil shades of politics. Anyone wlio lias a grievance in most welcome to ventilate it in the Hkrald — the only proviso beirig that correspondence we receive must not bo libellous, and of that the Kditor will be the judee. And we wish it to be understood that the correspondence column is only open to the public outside tlic paper. No member of the Herald's stun", from the proprietor downwards, is permitted to use the column, exei'pt under extreme conditions, and then not anonymously.
