CHRIS TCHURCH CO RN EX CHANGE.

Report for week ended FiiJay, June 20, 1890 :-

The wheat market remains unaltered. Pr ; ceß during the week may nave fluctuated to the extent of J 1 per bushel wuero s special order had to be filled, but for standard eamplts and average lines no increase in value can be noted. The »mval "f several vesetli, under charter to M -ssrs Steal an«l Cunningham, during the week to load will ease the accumulation of stocks now lying in p<irt. No sales of any magnitude can be noted in oats, and only really prime milling command any retention. Barley would appear to hava been more largely grown than usual this season, as maltsters have laid in stocks ami there are many p»rc«!s still offdrmcr. Buyers decline anything but really prime lives, and most of the transactions now taking place are with a view to hold over. Feed barley, in sympathy with oats, is almost unsaleable. Beans : Though some nice bright samples are on the market, buyers are very chary of purchasing owing to the rate of freight hence to Londou. Pease : Hand threshed Prussian blues are in fair demand ; feed sorts are quite neglected. A slight demand for wrinkled varieties for garden purposes may be noted. Potatoes : Where orders are in hand, buyers have paid full rates to secure lots before going into pit, but latest advices from that most fl lotuatin^; of markets— Sy Iney — are not reassuring at the moment. Both farmers and merchants here at one time or another profited and lost (mire esjeually the latter) by the ups and downs of what is often termed tin " deceptive tuber " iv Australian imrkets. Butter (sal ) of prime quality is in short supply. Any good parcels off -ring would b> readily placed at a slight increase on quota* tiond. Cueese : A fair demand may b>noted.
