LOWELLS FLAT SCHOOL.

COMMITTEE MEEIING. The Committee met on February 9bh. Present— Messrs Fraser (Chairman), Calder, Bowie, Bryce, Batcher, and Nelson. The Treasurer reported that the concert held on January 27fch realised £4 7s 6d. Dr Brown, and Messrs Fraer and Ramsay were nominated to the vacancies on the Education Board. Mr Hollick's account, 16a 10(3, for garden fence, was passed for payment. It was resolved that the sum of £4 7s 6J be expended in prizes, and that the teacher and secretary be requested to purchase the same in Dunedin, the distribution to be made on Monday, 20th inst., and the holidays to extend from that date until March 19th. It was decided to ask Messrs H. Clark and M. Fraer to examine the school and award the prizes, and that Miss Clark and Mrs Gilbert judge the sewing. The use of the school once a month for religious services was granted to the Rev. R. Taylor on payment of 2s 6d a week, the Committee providing light, &c. The Chairman donated a prize for the dux boy and girl of the school, Mr Douall a donation of 2s 6d for prize for the infant class, and the other members 3a each towards the fund. The teacher, Mr C. A. * Strack, who is shortly removing to Invercargill, sent in his resignation, as did Mrs Strack hers as sewing teacher. On the motion of Mr Calder, seconded by Mr Bowie, the resignations were accepted with regret, and it was resolved to place on record the Committee's appreciation of the high position the school had attained under Mr Strack. A vote of thanks was accorded to the whole staff for the very successful examination through which the school had recently passed.
