Melbourne, October 29. The Eastern Extension Company have formally given notice that the tariff between New Zealand and Australia will, on the Ist November, be raised to 10j for the first 10 words, and one shilling per word for every succeeding word. Sydney, October 29. Tuo OLiurch of England Synod have agreed to the proposal that the Primate of Australia be created archbishop. Religious disturbances have occurred at the township of Lismore, on the Richmond river, in consequence of of a lecture delivered by Miss Edith O'Gorman. Special constables have been sworn in for the purpose of preserving order. Numbers of the unemployed in Sydney are being drafted to the couutry distriots, where the Government are providing employment.
