Sydxev, June 7. The schooner Iviver Tamar has arrived from Samoa, and brings the following news :— lkr Majesty's corvette Danae, 12 guvs, has shelled two of the principal villages. This has incensed the .Sainoans, who threaten so swarm Samoa city and massacre the whites. The Danae remains to protect the white population. June V. A ballot has been taken amongst the miners on the proposals submitted h: Mr I 1 jyd for the seltlenieut of the strike. The men have, however, rejected a compromise, and the strike continues.
Melbourne June S. In the Legislative Assembly last night the Bill providing for the payment of members was read a second time on a division of 38 to 2-i. The measure provides that the payment of members shall not be limited to one ac sion.
