Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report for the week ending 2ud June as follows : - Fat Cattle.— To-day's market was a one, no less than 287 head being yarded. About one-fourth of them were little better than stores. The rest, however, consisted of from fair to good, quality beef. For the former bidding was very slack, and a few pens were turnedAut unsold. For the latter the demand was better, and prices obtained for these ruled about the same as last week. We quote prime beef at 25s per 1001 b ; medium, 17s Gd to 20V. Fat Calves — 26 penned. We sold 25, at fiom IGa to 34s each. Fat Sheep.— An unusually small number came to band, only 1342 being penned, aud about two-thirds of these buing crossbred.*-, the remaiuder merino wethers. Owing to the short .upply, prices hardened somewhat. The advance obtained, however, is scarcely likely to be maintained, as the result of to day's sale will no doubt cause a full supply next week. We quote prime mutton (halfbred) at 2^d per lb ; merino, 2d. Horses.— Both draughts and those of lighter description are at present dull of sale. For last Saturday's sale there was a very large entry, including s-ome very heavy draughts, the prices obtained for wbich ranged from £14 to £3S. The proportion sold was little over one-half the entry We quote .—First-class draughts at from £35 to £45 ; medium, £20 to £30 ; good hacks and light harness horses, £17 to £25 ; light and inferior, £3 to £8. Wool.— Under date London, 31st May, the following cablegram has been received : — " At the wool sales to-day 6300 bales were offerer/ making a total of 324,400 bales catalogued sin* s the opening. The tone of the sale was firm.' Sheepskins — We held our weekly sale on Jonday last, at which the trade was well sented. We catalogued about 1300 loose skins and 9 bales butchers' skins. Crossbreds'old at from 3s ld to 3s 7d ; merinos, 2s 3d fr2s 6d ; lambskins, 2s 9d to 3s 4d ; station skin at from I ls 3d to 3s ; full woolled skins, 4s ld 5 and j bales at from 4^d to 6&d per lb.
