AMUSING.

A friend of ours, with but one suit to his back (wliich is enough for any reasonable man), became an editor recently, and now he has tliree suits. Two of them are libel suits. Josh Billings, in one of his late papers says; " The sun was agoing to bed, and the hevins far and near were a blusbin' at the performance." Freddy is a little one of seven years' growth, the son of a minister, who, with his wife, has just arrived at a new field of labor. Hearing his mother say to bis father that she had been deceived by his saying the parsonage was a three-story building, when in fact it was only two, he said:—'' Ma." '* Well Freddy V " Pa is right." "How is that, Freddy?'' "The kitchen is one." " Yes." ** This floor is two, aud the story that pa told is three." A Quincy (111.) small boy was looking at some Scriptural engravings, and gazed long ancl earnestly upon a representation of Adam and Eve in their primitive dress. Turning to his mother he asked, "Ma, didn't Adam and Eve wear any clothes V No my son." The lad reflected a moment, and said, " By hokey, though, but I'll bet the mosquitoes jist made them scratch themselves lively!" " So you want to marry my daughter, do you ?" inquired the father to twentytwo years' growth of trembling manhood. " Yes, sir, I like her and-and" "How can you support hei 1 What salary do you get?" " O my salary is small, but I'd come and-and-live with-you !" " Come and live witb me, eh 1" And something as hard as an Egyptian pyramid struck the young man amidships, and gathering himself up he concluded to board with his mother a few weeks longer.
