New Zealand loan, 1889, 103£, ex dividend. At tlie wool sales to-day 6300 bales were offered, making a total of 324,000 bales catalogued since the opening. The tone of the sale throughout was firm. The Government has increased its advance of Church funds towards the relief of the Irish distress to £1,500,000. June 1. News bas been received from Rangoon that owing to tbe disaffected state into which Burmah has been plunged through the excesses of King Theebau the whole country is now in open rebellion. The outbreak is increasing, and has already extended to Mandalay, where the British Resident was formerly stationed. Three per cent, consols, 98i. The mails via Brindisi per Orient Company's Chimborazo were delivered to-day.

Constantinople, May 31. There is great excitement in this city owing to the action which is being taken by the European Powers to enforce the strict fulfilment by Turkey of her obligations under the Treaty of Berlin. The Ulemas, who comprise the chief religious and legal functionaries and a number of religious fanatics, counsel the Sultan to resist the demands of the Great Powers for the immediate settlement of the Greek frontier question and the cession of territory to Montenegro, as provided for by the Treaty.
