This being the clay for the monthly meeting of the Bruce County Council, we may not be out of place if we remind the members of the Melbourne Exhibition. We think a small amount, say £20, might be voted with advantage for the purpose of collecting mineralogical specimens of all kinds, including the many varieties of coal existing in our country. Grain and other produce might also be put on the list, and the Chairman could be empowered, in such cases where some extra expense had to be incurred, to grant a little assistance in order to induce parties to come foiward with exhibits. But the mineral products are the most likely that cannot be easily collected without offering some trifling help in procuring and transporting them. It would be a pity not to see the natural resources of Bruce fairly represented in Melbourne, and we feel certain that there is no want of energy amongst our settlers for striving to reach the desired result, if our County Councillors will only set them a good example, by holding out some encouragement for the movement.
