A Comuiilitco meeting was held a I the Council Chambers nu Tuesday eveuiu:.:, when there were present — Messrj li. Murray (President), J. Hislop, W. Hislop, Twcedie, Hewitssun, Hamilton, Frascr, Goudall, Chalmers, and Jas. lnglis (Secretary). The minutes of the last meeting having been read, were continue!. The present meeting had becu called to take into consideration the holding of the annual ploughing match. The Secretary produced a haudsome silver cup, value £5 .">■>, the present of Messrs G. and T. Young, of Dunedin, given by them as a pri/,3 for the best draught entire at the last annual Show of the Club. The cup was won by air George Wallace, as our readers will remember, ay.d his name is neatly engraved on the pm:;, together with a suitable inscription. Mr Inglia moved, and Mr J. Hislop secjnded: " That a cordial vote of thanks to Messrs G. and T. Young be recorded on the minutes ; a:;d that the Secretary be instructed to write to them, thanking them f.>r their haml3oine gift." Carried unanimously. Mr J. Hislop moved — "That the annual ploughing match be held on Wednesday, the 30 ;h of June." Seconded by Mr Goodall, and agreed to. Moved by Mr Inglis, seconded by Mr Hamilton, aud c irried,— "That nff ; r3 of paddocks be advertised for, and that they be received up to Tuesday, June Sth. , The President, Secretary, and Mr Tweedie
were chosen as a sub-committee to canvas the district for subscriptions. A Field Committee was also appointed, consisting of Messrs Hewitson, J. Hislop, and Chalmers, who will have to choose and arrange for a paddock. It was decided that the sub-committee meet on Wednesday, the 9th of Jnne, and a full oommittee meeting will take place the same evening. The planting of a hedge round the Club's paddock was next considered, when some were for quicks, and others for whins. The show of hands was in favor of whins, and the hedge is to be planted in accordance with this resolution. This was all the business before the meeting.
