"That j the rates become payable on ihe 7th February > prox., and that for the "convenience of ratepayer* the oolleotor attend at the Otaria School House, on Friday, 7th^ebruary, from noon, to 4 p.m., for the -purpose of receiving said rates, and in the event of any neglecting to pay the same, proceedings be taken to 'enforce -payment of the said rate." Moved by Mr Andrews, aid seconded by Mr Mclntjre. That a public meeting be called for Saturday, the Ist February, at 3p ml, to submit to the ratepayers for their consideration, the proposed boundaries to have the Road District divided into subdivisions. Carried. Proposed by. Mr Mclntyre, and seconded by Mr Templeton, "that the, engineer be instru>» ted to have the road properly finished leading Musi Cunning's property." Carried. / Mjiyed by Mr .Mclntyre, and seconded by Mr .Cattb, tbat the Clerk be instructed to write to the Southland County Council, requesting them to draw, the attention of their Engineer, at once, to, the state of the road oh contracts 1, and 2, PukGrau, to "Otaria. Carried. - A letter was read from the Knapdale Road Board, stating that they could not at present comply with the Otaria Boards proposition, re the County road. Received. ; Itjwas resolved to call for tenders for works in Slopedown, via iCogersons and Murrays properties. The following tenders for works were then open'eft viz :— Cont.act No 3, Pukerau to Otaria (Countj road). Only one tender was received, that 1 of Alexr. McKenzie, at £320 18s, which was accepted. Contract No 6, William Nelson, £53 103 (accepted) . Contract No 7, John Ross, £190. Alexr. McKenzie, £171 10s (accepted). Contract No 8, Alexr. McKenzie, £50 (accepted). Contract No 10, Bain and Crawford's tender for bridge to be built with stone, at Ll7, and drains at 15a per chain Was accepted. This conclude i the business of the meeting.
