;■:■■■ '; '"■ AN^TJAL MEETING. : ;;. The Annual meeting; of^he parishioners was held at the Chmph on Tuesday evening last, the Rey.fw. ]Rpna]clßon presiding. The meeting was opened with prayer, and after some introductory observations the Chairman called upon the churchwar. dens tb read the annual report of the Veßtry and for the past year. • ' •' : ■'"• •■' ; : '."-'■ - v ' ; ■' '- ' "■' - The following report and balance-sheet were then read and explanations given as to various items. j The Churchwardens arid Vestry beg to submit tbeir report and financial statement for 1878 :— On comparing the receipts for the last with the previous year, it will be observed that there is a slight falling off in £ome of the sources of revenue ; the sum received from pew rents shows a decrease of L 24, th« efferte ries uhow a decrease of about Ll6, arid the subscriptions to the stipend fund alto shew a decrease of about Ll6. The "Vestry have pleasure in stating that the Bum of LSB has been received from the outlying district?, contributed as follows : Taieri Ferry, L 22 6* 8d ; ; Glenor*. Ll3 Os 2d ; Waihola. L l l 13? <M i and Grey town for , tix ; monthß, Lll'lOi. The total from the outlying districts show an increase upon the previous year of L 27. It will be noticed by the balance sheet that tb« Vestry ha« paid out of ordinary revenue the sum of L6l to complete the cbancal towards which tbe Church Society gave a graat of LIS, leaving L 46 ■ chargeable against Church fands. T^e Vestry desire to acknowledge the earnest zeal and labor of the Rev W. Konaldeon in discharging his clerical duties, and his successful efforts to attend to the wants of the Church in the outlying districts is evidenced by i the increased contributions from those places. The Vestry d< sire to record their thanks to tbe oreanist and choir for their continued and efficient assistance in conducting the musical portion of the services. The Sunday school continues to progress satisfactorily, the ordinary attendance is about' 120, and the teachers have cheerfully given their voluntary cervices, arid dtserve the best thaiika of the Church. The Bruce Volunteer corps have kindly continued the free use of their hall for holding the school, for which the Vestry desire ito return their best thanks. The Ye8 try have again to thank the lay preachers for their valuable and willing assistance whenever their services have been required. The Vestry on the application of Balclutha, made through Archdeacon Edwards, , have acceded, to their request to allow our pastor to hold services at their church once aSiibntb, pending the arrival of a clergyman from the Home Country— who is expected to accompany the Bishop on bis return to New Zealand. In conclusion the Vestry desire to record their thankf nlness to Almighty God for the measure of success which, has attended the labors of our Church, here, under the many difficulties which have arisen, and cannot bufc hope that h 8 blessing will still be with us in the year we are now entering upon. Votes of thanks were also cordially given to the organist and choir for their efficient conduct of the musical portion of the services—to the lay readers for their ready t assistance at all tiraes.
