PEDIGREE :— Sire, Angler : dam, Norma, by King Alfred (imported), out of Bassinette, by Premier (imported); out of Mavourneen, by Lucifer ; out of Cushla Machree, by Little John (imported). Angler is a son of the well known imported stallion Fisherman ; out of Marchioness (also imported; winner of the Epsom Oaks, who is half sister to the Marquis (imported), sire of Newminster, who, as a two-year-old, won last season upwards of £4000. King Alfred's sire is Pyrrhus Ist, winner of the Derby. Young Angler is half brother to Cleolite, winner of the Wagga Wagga Cup last year, and half brother to the Chrysolite Colt, winner of the present year's Derby— tbe fastest on record, both being by Angler. Premier is sire of The Fawn, the dam of the great Richmond. He is also sire of Marmion, Musidora, Ebor, Miranda, and many other winners. Mavourneen, by Lucifer, sire of Don Juan. Youngler claims very close relation to Maribymong and Horatio. Young Angler has performed at Portland, winning the Maiden Plate, beating thirteen of the best borses : also run third in the Portland Handicap, beating thirteen horses out of sixteen, carrying 9st 2lbs ; also gained first prize as the best blood stallion exhibited at the Tasmanian Agricultural and Pastoral Show, 1876, Tasmania.
