Tafanui, June 7. Mr D. M' Kellar's stables ai Brooksdale, Tapanui, were burnt down last night. They were valusd at about £400, and insured in the Victoria for £100/ The floods at the time prevented any assistance reaching the place, although the fire was plainly seen from town. The chaff-house and machinery- adjoining were insured, and the buggieß and harness saved, the rest being totally destroyed. The Pomatiaka river is very high and rising, and the roads impassable in many directions.

Lawrence, June 8. A great deal more damage has been done by the rain than was at first imagined. Heavy losses have been sustained at Wetherelones/ Gabriels, and Waitahuna.
