Thomson, asked permission to convert section 9, block 11., "Waikaka, into freehold instead of obtaining lease for same as formerly requested. j I Applicant to' be allowed to purchase. SAWMILL LICENSE. Messrs Connell and Moodie, for J. M'Farlane, applied for timber s»wmill ! license,'^ under * the 86th section of theLand Act, ,IB7fr, for Sfr acres of land ito-s mediately behind sections 70 and 71, block X1.,, G-lenkenich district. Banger to be requested to report. . KAITANGATA. Mr William Sarginson applied for a renewal of his license for land adjoining section 3, block XXXI., Kaitangata district, under the 149 th section of the Land Act, 1877. License to issue for one year,. at £1 per annum, under clause 86. ' TABLE HILL. ' Mr W. Gooday, for Mr J. W. M'Rae, asked that sections 10, 11, and 35, block IV., Table Hill, be thrown open for sale on application, the lease of them having expired. The District Land Officer ffo r warded a memo, thereon. Sections in question, along with other sections held by -Mr Campbell, to be classed as land of special value, as being of superior quality 'for agriculture ; upset price to be 40s per acre. - j A PEAT BESERVE WANTED. Mr J, "Mackenzie telegraphed asking the Board to postpone the sale of section' 36, block VI., Waikaka, until a' petition be received from settlers requesting that r the same be reserved for peat. < Head. . } - THE OAMARU ENDOWMENT. j - The Under-Secretary for Lands tele^- - graphed asking whether; in the opinion of the Board, the granting of the Oamarji endowment would be detrimental to settlement or the mining interest. « j , * The .Chief Commissioner "said that he ] replied stating that the Board had not 1 considered the. matter in regard, to that point, and hacLnot expressed any opinion on it. As far as the mining interest ' was' concerned, the Board would be guided by the report of the Wardens. Ho understood that the Warden had reported! that mining would not be interfered with if the endowment were granted. If the. Board were to express an opinion at all, it would be in connection with settler ment. , | Mr Clark said that the land referred to was first-class agricultural land, but a • little broken.
