A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE.
(2b the Editor.) Sir. —l beg to draw the attention of those connected with the pic-uic t» be held at Inch Clutha, on 16th November, and also such of the general public as are likely to go pic-nickinu, to the face that they are (by hiding the prop ised px-nic so e*rly) doing all in their powe«* to encourage the spread of disease. JLast we. k there were several deaths at Lawrence from Scarlatina, and. the trouble still rages there, therefore if the people of Lawrence are brought to mix with those uf other districts, what can be expected but contagion. It remains with those who have to do with »he picnic firstly, and the general public secondly. By the committee as to whether the pic-nic shall beheld j then, if held, the general public have it in their power to withhold their presence from ;it, aud thereby avoid the danger so recklessly prepared for them. If the public unite in this step, as they should on all such occasions to .a man, they will then show those who have the management of the pic-nic that their wanton carelessness received its full reward, i.e., a blank space. : : ' Trusting the pic-nic may be poß'ipofied for the time being, but hereafter held at a fitting and sensible time, and with goodresults, I am, &c, . One "who wishes to enjoy it. i ■ ' ■ ■ ■• '
