Friday, 19th May. Present— Mr Geo. Lindsay (chairman), and Messrs W. Tweedie, C. Falconer, J. Goodall, 11. Murray, A\ r . Allison. MINUTKS. The minutes of the meeting held on the 21st of April, and of the special meeting held on tb,e 9th, of May, were read, usid confirmed.

.; REPORTS. Mr C. Falconer, on behalf of Mr Twiss and himself, reported that Mr James Allison's contract had been completed in a satisfactory manner. Messrs Murray and Falconer reported that the stone and material on Messrs Groves and Powley's contract was not entirely satisfac-. Tory, and recommended that the Board should request the Eugineer to examine the same and report to the next meeting of the Board. Mr Murray moved—" That the Engineer be requested to report on Messrs Groves and Poley's contract, Coal Gully road, and also that the Engineer should be instructed to get the road repaired and to have all the ruts filled in." Mr Goodall seconded the motion, Avhich was carried. Messrs Liudsay and Murray reported that they had waited on Mr A. Jones, the Manager of the Bank of New Zealand, and had arranged with him for an overdraft sufficient to pay the accounts passed for payment. If further accommodation were needed, it would be necessary to wait on Mr Jones again. COKRESPONDKNCK. A letter was read from Mr 11. R. Jones, in which that gentleman resigned his office as auditor to the Board. On the motion of Mr Murray, seconded by Mr Allison, the resignation was accepted. Mr Allison moved—" That Mr J. J. Lane's i name be forwarded to the Superintendent, with a recommendation that he should be appointed auditor to the Board." Mr Murray seconded the motion, which was carried. A letter was read from Mr James Lees, Manager of the Bruce Coal Company, enclosing a cheque for £50, and ako an arder f re m Messrs Groves and Fowley for £20, on account of subscription towards the Coal Gully Road. A letter was read from Mr James E. Brown, enclosing plan of the subdivision of parts of sections 130 aud 131, block IV., Tokomairiro west. ACCOINTS. • The following accounts were passed for payment : — Milton subdivision — James "Watt, £> 10s; Municipality of Milton, £40 : Joseph Mackay, £J IDs. Southbridgc subdivision — J. Allison, £-27 17s (kl. llclensbrook subdivision — T. Wilson, £6 3s. The following accounts were left over until reports had been received with reference to the work, &c. — Groves and l'owley, £233 10s : D. Wilson, £3 3s. THE ELECTIONS. The following arrangements were made for the elections, which take place on Bth June: — Milton subdivision -retiring member, Mr C. Falconer ; returning officer, Mr James Goodall ; place of polling, schoolhouse, Milton. Southbridge subdivision — retiring member, Mr 11. Murray : returning officer, Mr E. Martin ; place of polling, schoolhouse, Milton. Ilelensbrook subdivision — retiring member, Mr V. Twiss (by ballot) ; returning officer, Air T. Dall ; place of polling, Lewis' Royal Oak Hotel. Milburn subdivision — retiring member, Mr Geo. Lindsay ; returning officer, Mr Joseph Clegg ; place of polling, schoolhousc. COAL GVLLY KOAD. Mr James Goodall moved — " Thatauthority be given to Mr J. E. Brown to take the necessaiy steps to get. the road leading to Coal Gully vested in the proper authorities ; also, to get the road closed given in exchange." The motion was seconded by Mr Allison, aud carried. THK BOARD'S BASKO. Mr Goodall moved— "That Messrs Lindsay and Murray wait on Mr A. Joues, manager of the Bank of the Bank of New Zealand, and arrange for further accommodation, to enable the Board to pa}' existing liabilities."
