Dunedin, Nov. 16, 8 p.m. Arrived : The ship Mataura, from London, after a very boisterous passage. Mr Cotton, of Dunedin, has purchased Tadmor at a sale of racing stock, at Christchurch, for 250 guineas. M'llroy will be charged at the Resident Magistrate's Court, to-morrow, with obtaining money under false pretences from diggers at Christchurch, for passages to the Palmer River goldfields. A deputation to the Superintendent this morning submitted reasons for the construction of the Outram Branch Line being taken by way of Mosgiel. His Honor promised that a survey of the line should be made, with a view of asking the concurrence of the Provincial Council at the next session to its construction. The settlers should be prepared to give land free along which the line would have to be carried. It is understood that Government will expect similar assistance in the construction of future branch
