Young Thane ia a bay horse, rising five years old, stands seventeen hands high, of very good bone, symmetry, and splendid action. Young Tbane was got by the Thane of Clyde, imported by Hugh M'Lean, Esq. He gained the Ist prize at the Southland Show, 1867 ; Ist at Tokomairiro, 1868 ; 2nd at the Taieri, same season ; and Ist at the Molyrieux, 1869. His dam, Princess Royal, . gained the 2nd prize at the Southland Show, 1867 ; 2nd, 1868 ; and Ist in 1870. Grandsire, Prince Royal, never exhibited in the Colony, but has taken several prizes in Scotland. Mrs Valpy refused LllOO for him, and the came season was guaranteed 100 mares at 10gs each to travel him in Canterbury. Yopg Thane's dam was the celebrated mare Nancy, bred by the New Zealand and Australian Land Co. at their Clydevale Station. Nancy was by Matchless, whose pedigree is well known.
