SOUTH BRIDGE SIDE SCHOOL.

The public examination of the Southbridge school took place on Tuesday last, when a satisfactory attendance was given of botli parents and visitors. The different classes were examined by Messrs A. Y. Smith, teacher, Waihola Gorge ; H. M'Coll, teacher, Hillend ; W. M'Lelknd, teacher, Blue Spur, and Mr James Adam, of Bon Accord. Ie was gratifying to observe the interest taken by the teachers of the surrounding districts, and their presence contributed, materially to the satisfactory character of the proceedings. After a searching examination, duriug which the children manifested, by the readiness and intelligence of their answers, the care and efficiency with which they had been instructed, — Mr Adam awarded the prizes as appended. .them to continue to give earnest diligence and attention to their studies, and hoped they would continue to love and respect their teacher in the future, as he believed they^ did at the present. Mr . M'Lelland addressed both parents and children in his usual forcible and happy manner, expressing his pleasure at being present, aud his saiisfaction with the day's proceedings.
