MISCELLANEOUS. TO CONTRACTORS. THE TELEGRAPH COMMISSIONER is prepared to receive Tenders for the snpply and delivery of One Thousand Three Hundred (1300) Telegraph Poles, more or less. The Poles to be sawn from the Heart of Totara. The Poles to be of the following dimensions :— Twenty-five (25) and twenty (20) ft long (in proportions hereafter to be determined), to be eight (8) inches square at the butti and six (6) inches square at the top. The Poles to be sound, straight, and free from shakes, knots, and sap. N.B. — No pole will be accepted tvhich contains the least sap. The Poles to be delivered at the Spit, Waikouaiti, or at the City ofDunedin. Tenders are to specify the price per pole, as per size given, and also to send in alternate tenders for delivery either at Waikouaiti or Dunedin. Each tender to be accompanied by a deposit of Twenty-five Pounds (L 25) as a guarantee of good faith, which will be forfeited by any tenderer should he refuse to take up his tender in the event of its being accepted. Each tender must include the names of two sureties for approval, who are willing to become bond for the due performance of the contract, in the event of the tender being accepted, and muot be accompanied by a notification to that effect signed by the two proposed sureties. Specifications can be seen at the Head Office, Telegraph Department, Wellington, or at the Telegraph Offices, Dunedin, Tokoraairiro, and Waikouaiti. Tenders endorsed " Tenders for the supply of One Thousand Three Hundred Telegraph Poles," and addressed, "The General Manager, Telegraph Department, Wellington," must he sent in not later than the Ist March next. The poles will be delivered to the contractor at the spit, Woikouaiti, and will have to be carted from thence and delivered along a line of telegraph to be hereafter indicated, between Nas eby and Alexandra, or the poles will be delivered to the contractor at the City of Dunedin, and will have to be carted from thence and delivered along aline of telegraph to be hereafter indicated, between Alexandra and Nascby. Tenders to state the price per pole for cartage and delivery by each of the above routes separately, and also the difference for the cartage of 25 feet and 20 feet poles respectively. Each tender to be accompanied by a deposit of Twenty-five Ponnds (L 25), as a guarantee of good faith, which sum will be forfeited by any tenderer should he refuse to take up his tender, in the event of it being accepted.
