Rohinson, clerk to the Akitio County Council, who resides at Pongaroia, and who was recently married, o'eceived gifts and marks of appreciation from football wynrade;-., the employees of the ceu.icil, and others. Staff Sergt.-Major Burr returned to Dannevirke last Tuesday, after !being in auiip at Trentham. The Rev. J. A. Hosking, who has been suffering with influenza for some days, is about again. At a meeting of the Gisborne Clhaiinber of Commerce on Wednesday, it was decided to entertain Sir James Carroll at a public -gathering, and suitably recognise his efficient services as menfber for the district Wind as a Minister of the Crown. Over £IOO was subscribed in the room.
