Last year 4,061,780 tons of coal were exported from Newcastle of the value of £2,116,929, an increase of 163,794 tons, of the value of £105,405. The exports to New Zealand was 333,208 tons, compared with 318,495 tons. The exports of other items decreased by £30,752 sterling, and the imports increased by £164,043 sterling. ADELAIDE, This Day.
The results of the wheat harvests in many districts are better than was anticipated. Revised returns show they will probably exceed 21,000,000 bushels. BRISBANE, This Day.
A conference on the subject of'the eradication of prickly pear will be held on February 8. The pest is assuming alarming proportions in the northern portion of the State.
