The senate this morning agreed to candidates for tin- Bachelor of Arts degree to be permitted to take ijebrew, as a repeat subject., '.i'he definition of the words "for examination" is to be revised to bring Hebrew into line with Greek and .Latin. A motion by I<ov. A. Cameron, to permit candidates for matriculation over 20 years oi: age to take the examination in two pai'ts was lost. A committee was set up to consider means of encouraging the study of history, and to confer with teachers in colleges and secondary schools on the subject.

It was agreed to apply to the London Umv-or&'ity far recognition of matriculation examination in New Zealand University, also to invite tho commissioners of' 1851 exhibition to offer their service scholarships annually.
