Plate sheep, heavy 3 7-16' d, light 3|d. Beef, fores 3|d, hinds 4id.^ ; - Rabbits are firm, owing to scarcity of best large ; Sydneys, 15s, ex store. Hides are neglected and were withdrawn at nominal quotations. Sydney .heavy ox 7 l-16d, light ox 6|d, cow 6|d. Leather: Basils are unchanged. TVaihi shares: Buyers £7 13s 9d, sellers £ 716s 3d; Junctions, buyers 30s, sellers 31s 3d. The wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom agounts to 3,260,000 quarters; for the Centinent, 1,230,000; Atlantic shipments, > 89,000 j Pacific, 5000. The total for Europe is 860,000, including Russia 415,000, India 149,000, and Australasian 18,000 quarters.
THE MARKETS. [press association.] WELLINGTON, This Day. The following cable , lias been received from the High Commissioner, dated June 18: The mutton market'remains firm, and there is more demand. The: average price for Canterbury mutton today is 3§d, North Island 3|d. The lamb market is a shade weaker in anticipation, of large shipments. Canterbury o-J-d, other than Canterbury sfd. The beef market is fiat, and holders would like to realise. There is less demand. N.Z. hinds are quoted at fores 3|d. , i The butter market, is quiet, but steady. Supplies are increasing from the Continent. Choicest N.Z. butter to-day is quoted at 108s. The cheese market is firmer, and there is a general active demand for white at 57s Gd, and colored at 555. The hemp market is very dull, and there is little demand, and no change in prices. N.Z. good fair, on the spot, per ton, £24 10s ; fair, £23 ; fair current Manila, £22 10s ; forward shipment of N.Z. good fair, per ton, £24 10s; fair, £22 TOs ; Manila, £22. Cocksfoot seed is in better demand for this season's seed. For last season's crop, which: is at present held in store, the market is dull and irregular. The grain market is quiet, with a tendency in favor of buyers.
