MR ROOSEVELT.
Press Assn—By telegraph—Copyright WJiW YORK, June 19. Mr Roosevelt's welcome to New York exceeded in .magnificence anything witnessed since the Spanish American war celebrations. The fleet was decorated and also hundreds of excursion steamers in the bay. A salute of 21 guns was fired and all steamers syrens, were sounded. The Maj-or and .other prominent officials received Mr Roosevelt and 'the procession left for ; the city, the ex-president's escort being a corps of original roughriders of the Spanish Avar. Thousands lined the four miles of route and Broadway and Fifth Avenue were packed with a dense throng. The parade Avas non-political. There Avas another demonstration when the procession arrived at Oyster Bay. American neAvspapers, discussing Mr Roosevelt, refer to the necessity of his influence for the Republican party.
