After half an hour's play, Miss Russell scored first point, and made five hoops. Unluckily, she stopped at a loop, and gave Miss Barker the advantage of .playing the balls. The latter made the most of her chance, and made 8 points with the yellow ball. Then Miss Russell played a Jong shot for a hoop instead of going to her partner, and missed. Miss Barker made a long shot with the blue ball, and rolled home a winner by several points. Mrs Robertson acted as umpire. The winner, Miss Barker, is a very skilful player, and has won several trophies on the courts at Christchurcli Miss Russell's play, particularly in the morning, was exceptionally good, but she was manifestly somewhat tired by the previous play when she commenced the final game. The winner received a silver candlestick and the second prize was a silver vase. The tournament proved very popular, and will certainly be repeated next year. The grounds were in first-class condition, thanks to Mr Faliey's care. Mrs Robertson was defeated by Mrs Robertson in the first game Both are strong players, and it was expected that the winner would come from either of these two or Miss Barker. Mr Campbell, of Norsewood, plays a very even correct game, but he had to succumb to Miss Barker, after a well-fought game. Mrs Macallan acted most efficiently as secretary of the tournament, and received Milling assistance from the club secretary, Mr R. Soundy. Some good games were played among the juniors, but the result will not be decided until to-morrow.
