Open to horses that have never won a jumping event at the time of starting at any sports, A. and P. show, or race meeting. All horses to carry not less than list. 16. Greasy Pig Race.—-Ist pig; entry 6d. 17. Forced Handicap.—lst 20s, 2nd 10s; winners 2s, losers Is. 18. Sheep Guessing Competition.— Ist fat sheep, 2nd ss. Mr Cottress , gives a trophy as points prize to the winner of most events numbered 4, 6, 8, 9 and 17. All events (athletic) Avill be conducted under the rules of the N.Z. Athletic Union. Nominations with requisite amount of fees for events numbered 4, 6, 8, 9 and 15 must be in the hands of the secretary not later than MONDAY, March 10, together with record of performances at the last three meetings, giving details of handicaps allowed, and name of scratch man. All other events are post entries, except Maiden Hunters' Competition. The prizes at this meeting will be awarded subject to list of perform- • ances sent in with nominations being strictly correct. In all running events competitors must be attired in suitable costumes, viz., jersey (sleeved to elbow), and loose drawers or trunks. Three starters or no second prize. The attention of competitors for athletic events is drawn to rule 15 of constitution and 13 of regulations. i All acceptances are free; handicaps will be declared as soon as possible after closing of entries. The handicapper reserves the right to re-handicap the winner of any event after the handicaps are de- • clared. Protests must be put in writing, and handed to the secretary within 15 minutes after disputed event, accompanied with a fee of ss, which will be forfeited should the protest be deemed frivolous. When an event is contested in more than two preliminary heats the first and second shall run in the final. _ If an event is contested in two prelim- _ inary heats, the first, second, and third shall run in the final. \ The Ruahine Brass Band will play selections during the day. Refreshment booth on the ground. The committee reserve the right to run the several events in any order they deem best. The Committee do not accept any responsibility whatever for any accidents incurred at the meeting. GRAND DANCE IN THE EVENING Member's ticket, price 5s may be had upon application to the secretary or any member of the committee admitting holder, lady and family under fourteen to grounds and entitling holder to a reduction of one-third on the ordinary entrance fees, reduced fees being assessed to the nearest sixpence. HAWKE'S BAY ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY. THE FISHING SEASON will open on October 1, 1909, for all risers within the district, arid will close on April 30, 1910. Licenses can be obtained at all Money Order Post Offices within the Hawke's Bay, Waipawa and Patangata Counties; also from Messrs J. R. Ross and Co. (Napier), Mr A. H. Hill and J. T. "Wilson (Dannevirke), Mr F. M. Kenriey (Woodville), Mr R. R. Groom (Ormondville), Mr J. Chilwill (Waipuku.ra.ti), Mr L. Pratley (Waipawa), and Mr A.
