Press Assn—By telegraph—Copyright. (Received March 16, 12.45 a.m.) LONDON, March 15. A a banquet given by the Colonial Institute in honor of Sir George Reid, 278 guests were present. There was a brilliant and representative gathering. Amongst those present were Lords Rosebery, Beauchamp, Strathcona, Ranfurly, Sir H. Rawson, Right Hon. Buxton, PostmasterGeneral, Sir Thomas Fowcll Buxton, Hon. Sir Reginald Talbot, Hon. Herbert Samuel, General Huttom, the Agents-General of the Colonies, Sir C. Lucas, and Mr Pearson. Lord Crewe, in presiding, proposed Sir G. Reid's health, and welcomed him as a statesman of long and varied experience, a skilful and accomplished orator, and a thorough man of affairs. Sir G. Reid, who met the most enthusiastic reception, replied in a brilliant speech. He said he thought it was his duty to p\it aside private sorrow to obey the call of. public duty. He thanked Lord Crewe for the honor done him by presiding.
