THE NEW MAIL SERVICE.

The Dominion Government is advancing six million dollars to the Montreal Harbor Commission to provide additional port facilities. The contract with the New Zealand Shipping Company provides for a monthly sailing from Montreal in the summer, and from St. John in winter, 'calling at Halifax. The subsidy to be paid is £2OOO per month, and the rates are not to exceed those from similar ports in the United States.
