NORTH ISLAND BAND CONTEST
WANGANUI \VI>>S TWO SOLOS. [press association.] WANGAN UI, 3larcli 14. The North Island Brass Band Association's thirteenth annual contest was commenced this evening, when E fiat, soprano cornet, and B fiat baritone solos Mere played. The soprano 'cor.net solo was won by John Trussell (Wanganui Garrison), with Wilkinson (Gisborne City) second, and R. Watson (Mania Municipal) third. There were ten competitors. The baritone solo was won by George Jensen (Wanganui Garrison), with J. Cosgrove (Gisborne City) second, and T'lios. Cole (Nelson Garrison) third. There were seven competitors! The B flat and E flat base solos will be taken in the morning, and a garden party will be held in the afternoon on the racecourse. The B fiat cornet solos will be judged in the evening.
