THE TARIFF QUESTION. Press Assn—By telegraph—Copyright. (Received January 20, 8.45 a.m.) LONDON, January 19. The repeal of the meat exclusion laws is described as the irreducible minimum of American demands under the new tariff, which Germany and America are fighting. The tariff becomes effective on April 1. There is not the slightest sign at present of. a settlement. The Times' Washington correspondent, mentioning Britain and a minimum tariff,makes no mention of the British colonies.
