OVERSEER'S REPORT. The overseer's report as follows was then read and dealt with: I have the honor to report for the past month as follows:—That I have again had Berntsen's slip done up, using about 101) fascines on the work; it is now in good order. The slip on Tahoukaretu-road has also been attended to, and a drain dug to take the water away from it. The authorised timber water lead for concrete culvert on Leisure Hour has been constructed, about 1300 feet of timber being used for the purpose. Tbe work of picking up and breaking, and metal patching at Lincoln Bend has been carried out. In order to turn the Kereru stream, I have had a drain dug, and expect the Hood waters to further scour it out, which will considerably save expenditure. About 20 vards of metal has been put on the Waione-road, at the part where wash-out occurred last month. The roadman's paddock at Muddy Creek whare has been fenced in. A part of Waterfall Bend requires banking up on the outside and the wheel-ruts filling in, similar to what has been done at Lincoln Bend. A part of Kereru hill and road near Mr Berntsen's

gate is becoming badly cut up. I would suggest that these parts be picked in and napped down. On Dr Riddell's motion it was resolved to expend the money at Berntsen's gate as recommended. The chairman said it had been reported to him that a sill bridge on Mill Stream road had started to scour out.—Overseer directed to attend to it. Moved by Dr Iliddell that Mr Ross, M.P., be written to requesting him to urge that Government votes be authorised for exepnditure, also to enquire what the position is re Birchroad grants.—Seconded by Cr Morgans and carried. It was resolved to go into the question of winter bylaws at next meeting, and Crs Jensen and Dr Riddell were appointed as a sub-committee to meet prior to general meeting and make recommendations to same. The meeting then adjourned till Wednesday, the 9th proximo.
