TAI HEKETA'S LETTER.
(To the Editor.) Sir, — In reply to Tai Heketa, I might say that I am not surprised to see that ho has been misled by his captain, in the same way as he lias boon endeavoring to mislead the public in respect to Wednesday's match. 'Wither that, or he is helping him to make the best of a bad job. I don't blame him for trying to wriggle out of a tight corner, which no doubt in my mind ho is certainly in. Puvu. should have looked before he leaped. It would. have saved a lot of unpleasant feeling. With reference to the cheering, 1 wonder if Puru could call to mind what one of his men ran up to him and said as he was taking his team off. It might clear upthe situation with regard to that matter. Hut perhaps it is best for him that he -should not remember that far back or lie might bring to. mind other things which were said, 'which Igather from the letter he has most certainly forgotten. . With reference to the limelight and clean football, I can only say that had a little of that limelight ' been cast on some of the Aotea players last Wednesday when they were at 'close quarters it would be seen that •their football was not what you might term particularly clean, and would
have resulted no doubt in a few more men being ordered off. v In conclusion, I might say that notwithstanding the fact that I am accused of making misstatements, I still stick to what was said in my . previous letter, and I think that if still' a. little more of that limelight so freely distributed by Tai Heket^t, was cast on Punt's memory, he would most certainly come to the conclusion that lam perfectly right. — I am, etc., HARRY A. L. MONTEITH.
