AT WELLINGTON.
WELLINGTON, to-day. The Mayor, Dr Newman, says his experience indicates that the city is crowded with unemployed. A fresh batch Mjf about 25 calls on. him each day.- Some state they have tramped through the Wairaiapa, Hawke's Bay and Taranaki County, districts, but were unable to get work. The Mayor says ho is very loth to call a meeting to consider the best means of relieving cases of distress, but- he feels impelled to do so. It is proposed to set up a. committee for gathering funds from 'the citizens.
