Mr Justice Edwards reversed the finding of the jury in the slander case Bradney versus Virtue, in which plaintiff was awarded £25 damages for slander arising out of the Auckland Harbor Board election. In the Judge's opinion, defendant honestly believed he Avas performing a public duty by informing those promoting Bradney's election that the latter had committed perjury in a previous proceeding.
