There is a prevalence Of brown and dry rust in Tasmanian potatoes, which has led to the Department of Agricultlre empowering the inspectors to condemn tubers suffering from these diseases. This is having a considerable effect on the supply, and is causing^uneasiness regarding the future. Out of 15,000 bags which arrived on Monday, 2000 were condemned, and tho inspection is not completed. Local growers on. the North Coast, who last year obtained seed from Tasmania, also find 'their crops, ara seriously injected by rust.
