* A HIGHLAND SOCIETY. Fired to enthusiasm by the example of the sons of Scotia in the Daiinevirke district, the Scotsmen of Weber and the surrounding country have formed a Highland Society. A meeting to further this end was held at Mr Harvey's Royal Oak Hotel on Saturday evening, when, "there was a good representative attendance, tlr Harvey occupied the chair. After some preliminary discussion it was .resolved to -form a society to be called the "Webor Highland Society,-. The' choice of chief appropriately fell on: Mr D. Mnnro, of Linside, and the following were elected as chieftains'.: Messrs Alex. McKenzie ("Weber), G. -Douglas (Oporae) and A. M. Ross, "Waipatiki. A strong committee was also appointed, with Mr G. H. Richards as secretary. It is intended to celebrate the inauguration .of the society with a social and dance on the 14th of July.
