WE LLINGTON-LYTTELTON SERVICE

IMAK.UUM TO HE LAID Tl\ [PRESS ASSOCIATION.] . WELLINGTON, yesterday. One effect of the adjournment of Parliament till over the winter months will be a great diminution "in the passenger traffic between Wellington and Lyttelton. Hitherto the volume of traffic in the winter has oeen fairly constantly maintained in past years by almost innumerable members of deputations from . the South and t'he indefinite number of people who gather at the capital from all quarters during the session. In consequence, however, of the adjotmiment, a falling-off in the number of passengers has been noticeable during the past week or two, especially on the Mararoa. The Union Company has accordingly decided to withdraw tliat vessel from the ferry service., and the Pateena will resume her running to-morrow evening. The officers and engineers of the Mararoa will transfer to the Pateena on her arrival to-morrow from Lyttelton, while tlio steamer herself will bo laid up in Wellington.
