When nearly a mile high, the military balloon, the "Vanovsty," riped, owing to the accidental pulling of the emergency j valve, and she descended with frightful velocity. Of the four occupants of the car, M. Politzan, Court Chamberlain, was killed, and his wife fatally injured. The "Vanovsty" in a former aeeident caused the death of four officials.
