THE PROPANGAHAU FIRE.

THE INQUEST. [PHESB ASSOCIATION.] NAPIER, last night. An inquest 'touching the death of Mrs Ada Emily Robson, who perished in the destruction of the Porangahau school house by fire, was held at Porangahau on Thursday. It appeared from the evidence that deceased's husband saved their only child, bul was unable to find Mis Robson. Her remains were found in the spare bedroom just behind the oiik from which the child was rescued. She had apparently gone- into the room with a kerosene lamp in her hand and either fainted or accidentally dropped the lamp. The husband was in the workshop at the time, and had his attention drawn by the noise of windows -breaking and things falling. The jury returned r> verdict that deceased was burnt to death, but that there was no evidence to show how the fire originated. A rider; was added expressing dissatisfaction at the delay of the police authorities in despatching a- consjrablo to the scene of the fire.
