CADETS v. DANNEVIRKE. . ' This match was played this afternoon,, and resulted in a draw. Dannevirke scored a try to a penalty goal.

Mr T. Bain visited Hastings, today in connection with a. meeting of the East Coast Railway League. Mrs Bartell, a wealthy • American : lady residing at 36, Avenue JSjlau, Paris, was recently the viciinj^of a daring robbery. Having, djecided to return to America, she. published an advertisement saying she desired to sell her furniture, and two men pro- , sentod themselves at her house under the pretence of inspecting the furniture. When inside the house they suddenly seized Mrs- Bartell and her maid, bound and gagged them, and then made off with Jewellery worth £400. Some time ufterwards the servant succeeded in freeing herself*, ' : and informed the police. . ; ■-.:■,; It is probable that a member, of- tho British Antarctic expedition will make" a lecturing tour of 'Australasia ' .this year, tolling the siory of : the work in the Far South, and displaying the photographs and cinematograph films secured by Lieut. Shacklo-v ton. The pictures illustrate every phase of the adventures of the expedition, and the cinematograph films — of which some four or five thousand • feet were secured— are unique and intensely interesting. They illustratesledge and motor travelling on the iceand snow, the battle of the sturdy Nimrod with the floes and the bergs, and the curious habits of the pen-, quins aad seals, as well as many other Antarctic scenes.
