CONCERT.

• m> — — .' ■ A. school concert at Tipapakuku always means a crowded house, and last night proved no exception, it being difficult to find seating. room for the large crowd that attended. The programme as' usual was an excellent one, and the committee arid teachers had spared no trouble to make everyone enjoy themselves. The concert programme consisted of the following: Songs were contributed by Mrs F. G. Cowper (encored), Misses Mc'Clure (encored), Loft (encored), Howie-Stewart (encored), Mclntosh, Williams, and Benton (three school girls), M!iddleton, Messrs Graves (encored), Tai Heketa (encored), Cartwright (encored). Recitations were given, by Miss Howie-Stewart (encored), and Mr Graves (encored). Mr Stewart da.need the sailor's hornpipe, and Mr Thomson, the Highland fling, Mr B. Douglas and Mr Sutherland accompanying 1 with the bagpipes. .^Overtures were played by Misses Benton (3), McDermott (2), and Misses Zillah Tansley, Rhoda, Benton and Ada Lang contributed pianoforte solos: The accompaniments for the concort wore played by Mrs F. G. Cowper, Miss Tansley, Miss McCUxre, Miss Middloton, and Mr CaTtwright. . '< A special feature in the jn'ogra'mme was a. hat-trimming competition for gentlemen which had quite a num-ber-of entries. Mrs F. G. Cowper and Miss V. McClure were the judges, and awarded tho prize to Mr 0. Williams, wlioso hat was worthy of special mention. Special thanks are due to Miss McClure for supplying the bats and trimming. • At the conclusion of the concert Mr , H. Benton, tho. chairman, thanked the performe/rs tor their kind assistance, and specially thanked Mr Cartwright and Miss Tansley for their assistance as accompanists. The splendid programme will certainly ensure a crowded house again next concert. At the conclusion of the- concert ■supper was provided by the ladies, anil special thanks are" diie i:o themfor the good things provided.
