Subsequently, after a 1 stormy scene, the National Liberals, Radicals, and Socialists protesting, this inequitable attitude was wiihclrawn, whereupon the Conservatives and Centre rushed through new or ' increased indirect taxes totalling £19,350,000, including duties on lighting and cooking apparatus, spirits, cosmetics, beer, tobacco, railway tickets, matches, grain, milling a,nd export coal ; also four million from stocks and shares, and three, million from increased land values and land transfers. There are indications that Prince Von Bulow is willing to make terms witlli the Clerics and Conservatives.
