When unyoked, he allowed the horses to walk on before him- -and commenced to fill his pipe. While doing so, something in the road tripped him. and lie fell down the steep bank of the river. Fortunately he landed on a ledge projecting from the hank. He was badly, bruised about the amis, and body; his hip. which was injured some three years ago, has also been badly hurt. Mr'Laurens rescued him from his perilous position. He was then removed to his home, where his injuries were, attended to. Mr Holmes, of Eketalutna, has bought Mr McGuinn's dairy farm of 200 acres at Waimiro. Mr Murphy, whose farm adjoins, has also sold his property. It is reported the prices being paid for both are extremely satisfactory to the vendors. There is a great deal of sickness about at present. It is principally English cholera. Adults, as well as children, are very much affected. Mr;\Barkers little son, Charlie, who was an inmate of the Dannevirke Hospital for several months last year suffering from a, bad leg, and who has had to walk on crutches since his discharge from there, is again laid up. He was driven out yesterday (Sunday) to be placed under the doctor's'care. The sympathy of all is extended to the poor little sufferer. Divine service was held in the Moroeka schoolroom on Sunday last at 10 a.m. The Rev. Father Cahill, of Dannevirke, preached a very impressive sermon to a. large congregation. Ho also gave religious instruc- 1 tion io a very large number of children.
